Last night Spike TV hosted its Video Game Awards. They announced a few games and showed new trailers for already announced games. Zachary Levi hosted and Felicia Day did some backstage work. Although it was live it didn’t seem very rehearsed. Between all of the trailers and bits they didn’t get to giving out many awards. I think there were less than 10 in the two our span of the show. This year they introduced the Video Game Hall of Fame and inducted The Legend of Zelda as the first game ever picked to be in it. I primarily watched to see the trailers for new games and upcoming games so I thought I would post them here and say a little about each one of the world premier videos.

The fifth game in the series Hitman: Absolution looks to be an impressive game. I haven’t played all of the games but I am certainly interested in trying this game out.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater is a classic series, unfortunately it has strayed too far from it’s  style recently. Activision must understand that and they are now putting out an HD remix of a few levels from the first and second game. It will be a downloadable game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 brings all of the universe’s characters together to fight in tag team 2v2 matches. It is set to release holiday 2012.

Last week it was announced that a new game called The Last of Us was coming to the PS3, not many details were given. Last night the trailer was shown and it was Naughty Dog as the developer. The game looks like a survival horror game against zombie type creatures. It will be interesting to see what Naughty Dog does with the genre since we have had so many in recent years.

Mass Effect 3 is looking to be a really great end to the trilogy. This trailer shows gameplay of a large battle going on while Commander Shepard is trying to get to a tower. It looks pretty impressive and I can’t wait to play this game.

This announcement was a real surprise seeing as how Bioware is taking over the franchise. It will be interesting to see what they bring to the table. It is difficult to tell what type of game this will be, whether it will be an rts or some other type. I’m sure the frostbite 2 engine will give the game a lot of impressive destructive environments.

Rainbow Six has had many installments throughout the years and Patriots is the next in line. The developer is looking to a more homegrown terrorist threat brought on by the financial strain on Americans. It looks to explore what people do in extreme times and what how far they will go.

The second game about Alan Wake fighting his nightmare’s is coming sometime in 2012. He is fighting an altered version of himself and all that have been infected by it.

The Amazing Spiderman is a new game trying to show off the adventures of the web slinging hero. This game tells a different story than the announced movie with the same title. It looks as though Spiderman has his work cut out for him fighting a giant robot.

This is the second game involving Transformers and Cybertron from High Moon Studios and they look to blow the first game out of the water. I didn’t play War for Cybertron but I might have to check it out after watching this trailer and I will have to play this new one when it comes out in 2012.

This looks to be a fun survival game from Epic Studios. I’m sure they needed some rest after making Gears of War. Cliffy B mentioned some building so that will be an interesting mechanic for this genre, build to survive.

This opening cinematic for Diablo III shows the beginning of the end of the world.

Bioshock Infinite is coming out sometime in 2012 and it is highly anticipated. The first two games told a very intriguing tale and this game goes back before the first game. I want to play this game and become immersed in the world of Bioshock once again.

This trailer shows the new direction for the game that was supposed to come out for the Kinect and Move. It looks like some kind of fighting game rather than stealth like the rest of Metal Gear Solid.
