I got my first video game system (an SNES) for Christmas when I was about 7 years old. I grew up with all the games that Nintendo had back then. I still think those games are some of the best games ever made. How can you beat games like Donkey Kong, Mario, Turtles in Time, Earthworm Jim, Paperboy, and of course The Legend of Zelda? While most of these franchises have died out in the modern video game world, one franchise continues to be considered one of the best. There is no more hallowed franchise than The Legend of Zelda. If you grew up playing consoles in the late 1980s and the ’90s, Zelda probably provided some of your touchstone gaming experiences. This franchise was one of the first console games to provide real narratives and characters, along with game play of vast worlds to explore, puzzles to solve and treasures to uncover. The newest installment in the Legend of Zelda series, Skyward Sword, promised to be another great game in the classic franchise. But like all new Zelda games the question was: is it better than Ocarina of Time, widely considered the best game ever made? (more…)

Remember How to Believe

I became a true Bronco fan back in the 1996 season. Around the middle of the season they were playing well and I started paying attention. I watched most of their games during the second half of the season. They went into their playoff game against Jacksonville looking good and favored to win. It didn’t happen that way however as they lost to the Jaguars by 3. The next season I saw all of their games. Once again they made it to the playoffs and once again they would face Jacksonville in the first game. The Broncos didn’t start off the game well. They were losing and then fumbled at the Jaguars goal line. I was so upset that I turned the game off. I went and hung out with a friend assuming that the Broncos were going to lose again to Jacksonville in the playoffs. I didn’t believe they could win. (more…)
