Extra Life 2012

Today is the day for the now annual charity drive known as Extra-Life. It is a 24 hour gaming marathon designed to raise money and awareness for children’s cancer research. The gaming community has come out in full force to support the marathon with big sponsors including G4tv, Sony, Reddit, several game developers, and many gaming sites. All of the money earned goes to a Children’s Miracle Network hospital of your choosing. You can go local or choose any of the 170 hospitals in the network. Many sites and individuals live-stream the event all day and there are several gaming events scheduled throughout. Unfortunately I didn’t get signed up this year but there are many players and teams to donate to. Anyone can check it out at extra-life.org

Looks like the Kentucky Wildcats have been selected as the number one overall seed this year. The four number one seeds this year are the Kentucky Wildcats, Michigan State Spartans, Syracuse Orangemen, and North Carolina Tar Heels. Watching the selection show today has produced some good match up this year. The Mountian West has four teams in the tourney this year. The San Diego State Aztecs, New Mexico Lobos, Universtiy of Nevada Las Vegas Running Rebels and Colorado State Rams. This years tournament is going to be a good one. Who do you think will win it all this year?

The closer we get to Christmas the more Christmas movies are on TV. ABC family has their special “25 days of Christmas” where they show a different movie or show every day. NBC always shows the classic It’s a Wonderful Life. And TBS has the full 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story. In the Christmas movie spirit we here at The Watchful Penguin decided to give you each of our top five Christmas movies of all time.
